STRETCH MARKS – Venome

STRETCH MARKS

Stretch marks can affect both men and women. They appear as stripes on the skin — they are red at first (inflammatory phase), and then gradually become paler (scarring phase). They can develop during periods of rapid growth or sudden change in body weight — in short, whenever the skin is intensely stretched in parts of the body. When that happens, the body cannot produce enough collagen and elastin fibers, which are responsible for skin elasticity, and the scaffolding of the skin structure becomes weaker, with local tears caused by the stretching. This, in turn, leads to the formation of lines resembling small scars.

Stretch marks usually appear on the thighs, hips, breasts, or abdomen. The affected skin has no appendages (hair follicles, sweat glands, or sebaceous glands). In order to prevent stretch mark formation, it is important to regularly strengthen the skin’s protein fibers.
